Antimicrobial Effectiveness Test (Challenge Test)
The ability of microorganisms to grow in inadequately preserved cosmetics creates visible defects, but also endangers the health of consumers of possible bacterial contamination.

With the Challenge test is determined the ability of the preservation of the cosmetic, as the product is inoculated with a controlled inoculum of the challenge organism(s) and then the number of survivors is determined at different time points, according to international protocols (ISO 11930:2012, USP, EU.PH, CTFA).
The organisms used are representative of common pathogens: Gram (-) non fermentable, Gram (-) fermentable, Gram (+), yeasts, and fungi.
