It provides for new concentration limits for Benzophenone-3 and Octocrylene, to be respected from 28 January 2023.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For Benzophenone-3 <\/strong>(<strong>CAS number<\/strong>:\u00a0131-57-7)<\/p>\n<p>Conditions<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Product type, body parts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>a) Face products, hand products, and lip products, excluding propellant and pump spray products<\/li>\n<li>b) Body products, including propellant and pump spray products<\/li>\n<li>c) Other products<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Maximum concentration in ready use preparation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>a) 6%<\/li>\n<li>b) 2.2%<\/li>\n<li>c) 0.5%<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Other<\/p>\n<p>For a) and b) Not more than 0.5% to protect product formulation.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>a) If used at 0.5% to protect product formulation, the levels used as UV filter must not exceed 5.5%.<\/li>\n<li>b) If the substance is used at 0.5% to protect the product formulation, the contents of this substance as an ultraviolet filter must not exceed 1.7%.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Wordings of conditions of use and warnings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For a) and b): Contains Benzophenone-3**<\/p>\n<p>**Not required if concentration is 0,5 % or less and when it is used only for product protection purposes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Octocrylene (CAS number<\/strong>:\u00a06197-30-4)<\/p>\n<p>Conditions<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Product type, body parts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>a) Propellant spray products<\/li>\n<li>b) Other products<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Maximum concentration in ready use preparation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>a) 9%<\/li>\n<li>b) 10%<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>***Benzophenone as an impurity and\/or degradation product of Octocrylene shall be kept at trace level.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Source:<\/strong> Commission Regulation (EU) 2022\/1176 of 7 July 2022, <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/eli\/reg\/2022\/1176\">https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/eli\/reg\/2022\/1176<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Regulation 2022\/1176 of 7 July 2022, amends Annex VI (authorized UV filters) to Cosmetics Regulation 1223\/2009.
